Sacramento Country Day School, the regional leader in Pre-K-12th grade independent school education since 1964, seeks a part-time (20 hours/week) Lower School Learning Specialist to add to our excellent faculty, beginning August 16, 2024. The salary range is $25,000 to $46,000 depending on education and years of experience. Country Day School embraces the ideals of a liberal arts education.

We are seeking an overtly warm and supportive teacher who will be responsible for:
Administering standardized benchmarking assessments three times a year
Planning and implementing intervention lessons with students who need Tier 2 academic intervention 1:1 and in small groups
Reviewing our Tier 1 literacy and math curriculum and helping teachers make accommodations to support students in their classrooms
Conducting time-on-task observations of students in their classrooms
Meeting with parents to inform them of their children's progress and to give them suggestions of how to support their children's academic growth at home
Planning informational meetings for parents on literacy and numeracy development
Writing individualized Learning Profiles for students based on the interventions and accommodations outlined in their educational evaluations
Working closely with the full-time learning support specialist to coordinate schedules and plans.

Requirements
Bachelor’s in special education, Master’s degree preferred
Experience teaching Orton-Gillingham-based phonics lessons, Wilson Fundations preferred
Familiarity with all areas of literacy and numeracy development.
Knowledge of Everyday Mathematics and Responsive Classroom are a plus
Experience tutoring elementary students
Advanced communication skills
School requirements: background check, First Aid/CPR trained (school sponsored), negative TB result.
