PT NSCC Navigator
Professional Non-Unit Position, non-benefited position
Campus Location: Remote/Telework
Work Schedule: 10 hours per week (This position is made possible by grant funding. It is a limited-term role that will conclude at the end of the grant award year.)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The NSCC Navigator will partner with Wellspring House to provide additional holistic, intrusive, customized, wrap around, support and advising services to 15-20 current North Shore Community College students with the aim to intervene and help the students' overcome tangible barriers that may threaten their ability to complete coursework, remain enrolled in the college and be prepared for a job in the health service field. They will provide additional and intentional readiness for job search and new employment for this cohort of students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use pre-existing systems to identify 15-20 NSCC students, who are facing tangible barriers that may threaten their ability to complete coursework.
Work in conjunction with admissions and academic departments to identify potential candidates.
Work with Enrollment to ensure proper assignment to the program.
Work with Human Services programmatic advisors to assist students with course selection and with the Center for Alternative Studies (CAS) for portfolio analysis, credit for prior learning, transfer credit analysis, and non-credit to credit alignments.
Build personal rapport with each participant and connect them to appropriate and existing college-based support services based on identifiable needs to enhance academic sustainability.
Work closely with the Wellsprings Resources Coach in supporting the cohort of identified students. NSCC Navigator and Wellsprings Resources Coach will meet with the Dean of Academic and Student Development at NSCC or designee to discuss program direction and progress.
Track participant engagement and measure program support success by measuring retention, timeliness in program completion, increased engagement, etc.
Identify barriers to participant goals and recommend resources to overcome those barriers.
Participate in monthly program meetings with the Wellsprings Resources Coach and the Dean of Academic and Student Development to discuss program direction and progress.
Track student progress to enhance persistence and identify impediments to success at all levels.
Contribute to the mid-year progress report by reporting on data, summary conclusions to date, and recommendations of actionable changes to program services.
Contribute in writing the Final Report which is a comprehensive program assessment, including: outline of the data collected, what was learned over the course of the year as to the challenges that students face, and the success or limitations of additional support services to successfully reduce barriers and strengthen pathways into mental health professional careers.
Promote the program as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Dean of Academic and Student Development
Requirements:
Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field; with three (3) years' experience and/or training involving college admissions, academic advisement, career development, or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to use various electronic platforms to communicate, assist and evaluate students.
Ability to commute to any NSCC campus for meetings, programs and events.
Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education setting
Experience working in a community college.
Experience working with minoritized and diverse populations.
Bilingual is a plus.
Additional Information:
SALARY: $30.00 per hour, 10 hours per week, non-benefited.
