The Biology Department at Pomona College is seeking applications for a one-semester position in Biology beginning Spring 2024 (starting January, 2024), teaching two courses, with the possibility of a one-year extension through spring, 2025 pending funding.
The successful candidate will teach an Introductory Cell Biology and Cell Chemistry course with laboratory (3x50 minutes/week of lecture and one afternoon/week of lab) in spring semester 2024. Highly valued are post-doctoral experience, prior teaching experience, a strong interest in teaching undergraduates, the ability to teach and mentor students of diverse backgrounds, and the utilization of pedagogical practices that are rigorous, inclusive, and which promote academic equity. The College does not provide benefits for this one-semester position. However, based on a satisfactory performance evaluation, there is a possibility for this visiting position to be extended to a full-year visiting position with benefits, spanning from the fall of 2024 to the end of spring 2025 pending funding.
Pomona College, founding member of the Claremont Colleges, is a coeducational liberal arts college located 35 miles east of Los Angeles. Pomona College has access to a broad range of natural habitats including California sage scrub, deserts, mountains, coastal habitats, and urban environments.
Teaching and research facilities include the Bernard Field Station, an 85-acre preserve within walking distance of the college and state of the art laboratory facilities.
