AAM has an immediate opening for a Process Engineer within the machining group at their Fort Wayne Manufacturing Facility. As a Process Engineer at AAM, the ability to make an impact is within reach as soon as you walk in the door as AAM continues to drive the future forward, implementing new programs, technologies, and capabilities within our Manufacturing Plants. The Process Engineer would support these programs in order to drive increased performance, standardization, and cost savings, as well as assisting in tool testing events, machine capability studies and engineering change runoffs.
The ideal candidate for this role is self-motivated, and uses a hands-on approach aiming to find lean solutions to improvements and issues. They are able to tackle complex problems using quality and statistical tools; and are familiar with Fanuc Robots and Controls, automated conveyors, relay logic, and PLC Logic Controllers.
Job Description
Monitor ongoing performance of equipment by maintaining daily contact with manufacturing teams; providing ongoing support for manufacturing problems, corrective actions, deficiencies and troubleshooting technically challenging production problems.
Advocate and tracker of OEE performance within the Machining Dept., research process performance data to identify areas that can benefit from the application of technological innovations, lean manufacturing, and process enhancement and implement those recommendations.
Author complex documents i.e. PFMEA. SOR’s, Control Plans, Standardized Work, Lesson Learned, BOM’s, and spreadsheet generation.
Coordinate support groups for trial events, quality concerns, preventative maintenance, scheduled circumstance, and continuous improvement of equipment, tooling, and automation. Work with advanced manufacturing engineers on new processes, methods and model launches.
Review engineering drawing changes and make/initiate appropriate changes in manufacturing tools, fixtures, processes, CNC, PLC, and Robotic programs.
Experienced in CNC programming- ability to perform debugging and testing of CNC programs in machining centers (Lathe). Analyze part drawings, and design data to configure Tool Paths, Cutting Tools, and Machining Parameters using AutoCAD and Solid Modeling (3D CAD) software.

Completed Bachelor's Degree, or a combination of relevant education and experience required.
Experience owning and implementing tooling and manufacturing processes.
Proficient use of CNC controllers, preferably GE Fanuc and Siemens. Understand and use parameters, G/M code, and macro programs & variables.
Experience with Mastercam and NX CNC programming software highly desired.
Engineering blueprint/drawing reading ability. Solid understanding of GD&T and datum dimensioning.
Experienced with control procedures, such as the Change Management System (ECR & ECN)
Willingness to learn from all directions; from the machine operation to the experts in engineering.
