Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide mental health evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to our young patients. In this role, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, monitor progress, and provide ongoing support to patients and their families. This is a 0.8 FTE position and will cover the behavioral health unit on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) with 5 weekends off per year.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for children and adolescents.
Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management and therapy services.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and nurses, to ensure holistic and coordinated care.
Provide crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric evaluations as needed.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding mental health issues, treatment options, and coping strategies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Requirements:
Medical degree from an accredited medical school
Board certification or eligibility in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
Valid medical license and ability to practice in Ohio.
Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills in child/adolescent psychiatry
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Empathy and ability to establish trust and rapport with patients and their families.

An eight-story, 260,000-square-foot patient care tower sits in the center of the hospital’s main campus. The Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine department of pediatrics and its residency program are based at Dayton Children’s. All our physicians have the opportunity to hold faculty appointments at the Boonshoft School of Medicine and to teach medical students and residents. Residents in adult neurology, pediatrics, medicine/pediatrics, family practice, child psychiatry, emergency medicine, orthopedics, and surgery train at Dayton Children’s.
