Job Summary: The Head Cheerleading Coach is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and managing all aspects of the intercollegiate program. The successful candidate will have prior recruiting experience as well as experience with athletic fundraising, alumni relations and community engagement in addition to previous budgetary management experience.

Manages all operational, fiscal, and administrative activities for the cheer program.
Ensure effective communication of departmental strategies and goals to coaches, administrators, student-athletes, and other internal campus constituents.
This program supports Football, Volleyball, Men's and Women's Basketball as well as competes at NCA Nationals.
Responsible for assignment of student-athletes to all home competitions and manages all aspects of the travel team. Must travel to away football games, FCS playoff appearances, potential MTEs, SoCon Basketball Tournament and NCAA/NIT post season appearances.
Recruits quality prospective student-athletes that fit the mission and culture of Furman and ensures timely submission of their academic records for admissions.
Monitors academic progress and status of team members, implementing action plans through appropriate staff when needed.
Monitors and maintains the discipline and conduct of student-athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program and the university.
Embraces all aspects of developing, managing and running a cheer program, working independently and cooperatively with the athletics department and institutional staff.
Supports positive relationships between the student-athletes and key stakeholders, to include alumni, local community, fans, parents, coaches, other student-athletes, faculty and other University constituents.
Plans and leads all coaching and practice sessions in accordance with association regulations, including all preparation of facilities and equipment for practice.
Responsible for hiring of any volunteer assistant coaches
Works with the strength and conditioning staff to develop programming for student-athletes.
Leads fundraising efforts for cheer program and assists with efforts for the athletic department.
Understanding knowledge of NCA and USA Cheer Compliance and guidelines.
Maintain compliance with all relevant governing bodies to include: Southern Conference, NCAA, NCA, USA Cheer, Athletics Department and University policies
The Head Cheer Coach will report to the Senior Associate AD - Senior Woman Administrator
Other duties as assigned by the SWA and Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Head Collegiate Cheer Coaching experience preferred
UCA or NCA experience preferred
USA Cheer Safety Certification
Strong interpersonal skills are essential for interaction with colleagues, coaches, donors, trustees, students, alumni, parents and friends of Furman University.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.
Self-confidence, strong organizational skills, and effective time management skills are essential.
