Description:
Position Summary Employees at this level will perform patient centered services in accordance with the various Dental Clinics. They will also perform financial duties such as being responsible for cash handling, collections, accounts receivable, and revenue reporting. The Extra Help Dental Clinic Clerk I will monitor the accuracy of patient accounts including but not limited to patient demographics within the patient management system, and they will be communicating with patients in English and in Spanish on a daily basis.
This position will serve any of the following departments holding a vacancy: Dental Clinics, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Office of Financial Affairs, or Restorative Dentistry.
Duties & Responsibilities
Primary contact for patients via phone or in-person to provide any necessary information to the patient about the patient's appointment and account.
Gathers, inputs demographic data, and other patient care necessary information into the clinical software.
Performs necessary actions to check in and check out patients including but not limited to patient information verification and payment collection.
Primary contact for all inquiries, complaints, and concerns related to the clinic originating from the patient, refers to Admitting Officer IV as necessary.
Responsible for the daily cash handling for the clinic, including end of day reconciliation.
Post patient account payments via mail, phone, or personal interaction from either the patient or third party payer to the patient's account in the clinical software.
In accordance with College guidelines, monitors patient accounts receivable balances and makes adjustments to account balances, when indicated.
Responsible for the oversight of patient accounts and confirms validity of transactions in order to submit claims to third party payers for services rendered.
Reports to Managing Partners all customer feedback pertaining to supervisors, student providers, College personnel and patients.
Ability to communicate oral and written effectively in English and Spanish.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent.
One year (12 months) of experience:
Certified Dental Assistant in a dental clinic facility, program, or in dentistry practice, if required by employing institution OR
credit for college/university course work and/or training in dental care, health care related areas, or closely related medical/dental areas
15 semester hours = six (6) months
30 semester hours = twelve (12) months
OR
customer service/management in a medical/dental setting
Preferred Qualifications Ability to communicate in English/Spanish
Starting Rate for this position: $18.34
