The Office of Assessment and Institutional Research (A&IR) advances Scripps College's mission and strategic plan by fostering a campus culture of evidence-based planning and decision-making to enhance the experience and support the success of all Scripps' stakeholders. One key role of A&IR at Scripps College is that of a data steward and our three major responsibilities include assessment & evaluation, external reporting, and accreditation. The frame for our work is always the holistic success of Scripps community members, working both at the institutional and departmental/office level.
Reporting to the Director of Assessment and Institutional Research, the Research Associate will work collaboratively as a member of the A&IR team to facilitate overall assessment and evaluation, data collection, and data processing. Emphasis will be placed on data visualization and sustainable and audience-friendly communication of data insights.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Report Creation
Develop easily digestible formats to communicate both quantitative and qualitative research findings to both internal and external constituencies.
Design templates for reporting purposes.
Assist with generating various reports and data visualizations that may include tables, charts, dashboards, and graphs to summarize data findings.
Assist with developing executive summaries and reports on various assessment and evaluation studies.
Data Management & Processing
Practice FERPA Guidelines and office ethics at all times when working with data and information that is highly confidential in nature.
Use statistical software to:
Ensure data quality (clean data files and build complete data sets).
Construct data files (create or enter data, import and export data).
Build data files (match and merge data).
Compute appropriate data calculations.
Perform Contextual Research
Conduct literature reviews to provide context for and inform data reports.
Advance use of current and best-practice research designs and methodological approaches.
Conduct environmental scans on high-interest topics.
Assessment & Evaluation
Assist with co-curricular and curricular assessment activities and data collection as needed.
Active support for the College's Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity in the performance of job duties.
Work collaboratively with other departments and administrative offices across the College as needed.
Respond to ad hoc requests as appropriate.
Filing, labeling, and archiving of documentation.
Maintain office supplies and inventory.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R).
Data management (e.g., data entry, creation of data files).
Experience in using survey software (e.g., Qualtrics).
Reporting data and research in a meaningful and digestible format.
Ability to prioritize and maintain multiple project deadlines.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Experience using data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Communications experience.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities of the position.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:
This is a regular status, part-time (25 hours per week), benefits-eligible, non-exempt position.
The regular hours of the position will occur between Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm and may vary due to the needs of the College or department.
Hourly rate range: $22.00-$25.00. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
