Friends Select School is seeking a part-time Upper School, 2D studio art teacher to cover a semester- long leave. The dates of this position are January 29 - June 12, 2024. The position will include teaching three Upper School visual art classes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable demonstrating techniques in front of a class, offering positive and constructive feedback on beginner to advanced artworks, and managing materials for an art studio and a classroom of students in grades 10-12.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach the following classes : Drawing and Painting 1, Printmaking, and Senior Studio
Prepare artwork for exhibitions (including but not limited to printing, mounting, labeling and installation of artworks for two exhibitions)
Purchasing and keeping organized many types of art materials
Keeping an organized studio space
Supporting the students in their learning process through feedback, grading, and creating a positive classroom community in the studio
Maintaining and updating Blackbaud (the school’s LMS) for each class
BA or BFA in art, design, or art education, or equivalent experience, required
Experience teaching a variety of drawing and painting techniques in both realism and abstraction
