The Archer School for Girls is seeking a part-time Speech and Debate coach to lead our US and MS debate teams for the 23-24 school year. Responsibilities include running Upper School practices after school Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Middle School practices during the school day during FLX block. The coach will travel on weekends to local league tournaments, recruit judges for tournaments, and chaperone and coordinate team travel to attend select Invitationals throughout the year.

Archer’s Debate team typically competes 1-2 times a month on Saturdays, depending on when the meets are scheduled. The coach has the flexibility to choose which meets they attend, which typically includes one overnight competition semester 1, and 1-2 competitions during semester 2, depending on where state and nationals are located.

Archer prioritizes the educational aspects of debate: research, social awareness, argumentation, rhetoric, sportsmanship, and ethics. Students are expected to write their own cases and to work in and outside of practice to prepare for each debate. Interested candidates should have knowledge and experience in all categories of Speech and Debate.

Salary Range: $16,000 to $20,000 for the season
