Job Summary
The Scholars' Commons Promotional Assistant works closely with librarians and library staff to communicate with library users through a variety of mediums including posters, displays, signs, website pages, digital advertisements, and more. This position provides an opportunity to join a service-oriented team and to gain valuable graphic design experience. This position will be filled by a student who can design and print content for the libraries, including digital and print signage, as well as regularly designing and helping maintain content for exhibit cases in the library. Candidates with graphic design skills who can take creative initiative in the design process are ideal.
Helps support and promote the Libraries' resources, workshops, and materials.
Meets with librarians and other campus staff to plan and execute their vision for exhibition designs.
Helps install exhibits and setting up for workshops.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Currently enrolled as an IUB student.
SKILLS
Required
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or InDesign.
Demonstrated creative ability.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment and ask questions as necessary.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Flexibility, creativity, detail oriented, ability to proofread carefully.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to maintain knowledge of and follow library procedures and policies.
Ability to interact with a variety of constituents, including faculty, staff, and students.
Preferred
Knowledge of IU Branding Standards.
Coursework in graphic design.
Working Conditions / Demands
This position requires the ability to constantly operate a computer and other office items.
