About the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA)
The vice president for international affairs and the teams of staff in our offices are the stewards of international activity at Indiana University. We provide leadership and advocacy for all international programs and projects and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth.
Our goal is to enable as many students, faculty, and staff as possible to pursue international knowledge and experiences and to become engaged global citizens.
The Videographer/Photographer for the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA) will work within the central Marketing and Communications team to visually tell the story of OVPIA's programs and services. The student assistant will focus on the following duties:
Department Specific Responsibilities
Brainstorms, develops, and executes video storytelling initiatives for all units of the office
Organizes, films, and edits video of events, faculty and student interviews, and other projects that capture the international dimension of teaching, learning, research, and service at IU
Creates and posts social media optimized videos promoting events and initiatives of OVPIA
Maintains and organizes the office video assets library
Manages all facets of photo shoots with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners
Takes event photography of on-campus international programming events as well as occasional off-campus events
Maintains and organize the office photography assets library
Works with central communications team to plan and execute visual social media content campaigns
Writes captions and descriptions for social media videos
Learns to practice clear, professional written communication to parties within and outside the office. They will develop best practices to record, update, and keep information organized for the use of others within the office.
Gains knowledge of the process of implementing a new storytelling initiative from beginning to end.
Learns how to stay organized and manage their time effectively by balancing various administrative tasks in an office setting.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
SKILLS
Required
Prior video production experience (filming, directing, and editing)
Experience with video and photo editing using Adobe Creative Suite (Creative Suite provided)
Skills in alternate editors like Davinci will be considered
Photography experience (a camera can be provided but applicants may use their own equipment)
Working Conditions / Demands
Standard desk job requirements, including extended periods of time working on a computer.
Work Location
Ferguson International Center, Suite 300
A dedicated video editing workstation is available
Combination of remote work and on-campus work
In person tasks such as photo shoots, recording b-roll of campus, or faculty interviews will require time on-campus
Advertised Salary
$18.00 per hour
Work Hours
This position will work 10-20 hours per week based on office need and student availability.
This position may occasionally require work outside of OVPIA's 8AM to 5PM business hours.
