Job Summary
Attends to the circulation desk while performing functions such as: checking library materials in and out, maintaining patron and item records, routing library materials, and answering directional and circulation policy questions and inquiries.
Assists in maintaining the desk and its responsibilities, including answering the phone, directing patrons to library resources and services, and shelf reading ranges of library materials.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Open only to IU students who have accepted a federal work-study award
SKILLS
Required
Ability to learn Library of Congress call number classification
Strong phone skills
Must be able to show up on time and be reliable
Preferred
Outstanding customer service skills for working with people in a courteous manner
Working Conditions / Demands
This position requires the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time; bend, stretch, stoop, and climb. This position also requires the ability to lift, push and pull up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Bloomington, Indiana
Work Hours
3-5 hours weekdays and weekends, day and night shifts available during library open hours. May work at additional library sites and branches on campus.
