Assistant Academic Coaches will be given an opportunity to assist the Student Athlete Center for Excellence (SACE) as a member of the Academic Services Team through a variety of responsibilities. The following duties/responsibilities may be required of each Assistant Academic Coach:
Required Qualifications: Completion of Bachelor's degree (Master's Preferred). Excellent oral and interpersonal communication and analytical and writing skills. Excellent computer (Microsoft Office) skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects at once and meet established work deadlines. Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Provide comprehensive academic support to student-athletes of assigned teams through individualized academic plans that may include tutoring, mentoring, study hall and instruction on study skills and time management
Participate in professional development programming designed specifically for assistant's cohort such as NCAA Eligibility, APR training, Effective Facilitation training, book clubs, mock interviews, etc.
Monitor academic progress of assigned student-athletes
Assist in generating weekly grade reports for assigned teams
Monitor evening study hall to create an environment conducive to studying and facilitate tutor room assignments
Attend beginning of the semester meetings and participate in coaches' meetings for assigned teams
Participate in academic advising, degree planning and priority registration
Assist with the distribution of books to scholarship student-athletes
Assist in the monitoring of academic eligibility and progress toward degree requirements for assigned student-athletes
Provide support to new student-athlete orientation and summer bridge programming
Teach STL 1201, a Strategic Learning Course designed for freshmen student-athletes
Contribute to Character Formation efforts such as career development programming, community engagement opportunities and/or event planning
Serve on two or more of SACE's 11 committees
Meet with prospective student-athletes and their families
Assist SACE Team with timely completion of projects
Assist in the day-to-day operations of SACE
Perform other duties as assigned
Provide support to new student-athlete orientation and summer bridge programming
The goal of this position is to train, develop and prepare individuals for a career in student-athlete academic support. The Student- Athlete Center for Excellences' Assistants Development Program is an intentional, concentrated 11-month program designed to develop skills and facilitate experiences necessary to enter a full-time role and perform at a high level upon completion of the program
