NOTE: There are two Teacher Aide positions available - one for 1st grade and one for 2nd grade.
A Teacher Aide provides classroom support for a lead teacher as they guide the class through a lesson by preparing materials, interacting with students and supervising projects. The Teacher Aide also provides student support in the areas of social/emotional growth and development and conflict resolution. Their duties include preparing materials for lesson plans, tutoring students one-on-one or in groups, taking attendance, monitoring student progress, and supporting students emotionally and socially.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teacher Aide overseas students in non-classroom settings like lunch, recess and field trips, and they work in small groups or one-on-one with students in the classroom to reinforce instructional material. Their exact duties can vary widely depending on the particular circumstances, but some common duties and responsibilities include:
Prepare classroom and instructional materials for lessons.
Perform record keeping duties associated with the classroom including attendance and assessments.
Plan and implement curriculum at the request of the lead teacher.
Provide support to the teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment.
Assist the teacher in planning and preparation for daily activities; aids instructional efforts of the teacher.
Support students to feel heard, seen, and engaged in group instruction.
Support students with conflict resolution and social-emotional growth and development.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by lead teacher and/or program director and/or head of school.
Minimum Job Requirements
Completed AA or BA Degree from an accredited institution.
2 or more years experience working with children (e.g., summer camps, tutoring, babysitting, teaching experience)
