The Assistant Dean of Medicine for the Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) serves as an academic advisor to undergraduate PLME students and contributes to curricular and co-curricular programming. The position includes, but is not limited to, guidance on course selection for the studentâ™s overall educational plan, assessing and evaluating the progress and attainment of competencies, serving as an application reader during admissions, writing letters of recommendation, and attending events related to the PLME. The Assistant Dean will also contribute to a curricular and/or co-curricular aspect of the Programâ™s portfolio which will be determined in consultation with the Associate Dean (and may include teaching a PLME course, developing co-curricular programming, etc.). This position is 0.20 FTE and comes with the expectation of in person availability in the PLME Office on Wednesdays during the Universityâ™s undergraduate academic year.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Medical degree with experience in practice of medicine or equivalent combination of skills and experience
Experience with Brown Universityâ™s mission, goals and philosophy with specific understanding of the eightâyear baccalaureateâMD program the Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) required
Interest in medical education and professional development
Experience with counseling in the academic and professional development of undergraduate students
Experience with the admissions processes of Brown University preferred
