Established in 1970, SVCC is one of the 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System. The Christanna Campus near Alberta and the John H. Under the direction of the EMS Program Director, the EMS Instructor is responsible for preparing, delivering didactic, and laboratory education for all 3 certification levels, EMT, Advanced EMT and Paramedic. This position will teach in the classroom, laboratory and clinical settings. The courses parallel the Virginia Office of EMS, and the National Standards curriculum.In addition to teaching responsibilities, the EMS Education Coordinator will perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the EMS education program including maintaining regular and confidential documents, including general correspondence, reports, class schedules, forms, contracts, and memorandums. This position participates in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community. The incumbent will provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college and will participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities. The successful candidate will exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SVCC through the Collegeâ™s mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services, Lastly, the incumbent will continue his or her own professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college.This is a part-time teaching position in Emergency Medical Services. Positions may be available in spring, summer or fall semester. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and up to 8 credit hours for the summer session. Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs.
