Primary Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

Perform a complete building security check a minimum of two times per evening or as otherwise directed, including:

• Provide a visible presence on the NHS campus
• Securing/locking doors where appropriate
• Turning off lights and securing open windows
• Unlock outside doors per specific instructions at the end of shift
• Checking buildings for heat/cooling issues
• Emptying trash receptacles as needed
• Occasional snow removal (shoveling) and salting of steps
• Inspection of fire extinguishers, eye wash stations and emergency lighting
• Complete a nightly log including but not limited to documenting any acts of vandalism, unauthorized persons observed to be on campus or in direct proximity to campus, persons asked to leave campus, unlocked doors, or windows, broken or malfunctioning lighting or equipment and generally any unusual circumstance encountered throughout the shift.
• Notification of police, fire department, school officials, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate or prompt attention. Required to submit work orders for any noted maintenance items discovered during rounds.
• Familiarization with all New Hampton School facilities 

Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:

• Ability to walk for long periods of time, in varied seasonal weather conditions at night.
• Arrive at work on time and on a regular basis with minimal absences.
• Overnight and weekend hours and some event coverage.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow school directions, culture, and policies.
• Ability to use a computer and iPad for logging of activities and work orders.
• Demonstrate good judgment, aptitude, and competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Successfully complete a criminal background check and driving record check.
• High school diploma required with advanced education preferred.
