This position reports to the Assistant Director for the School of Arts and Humanities. Assists in the coordination of the Tufts Poetry Awards and School of Arts & Humanities events.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct support for Kingsley & Kate Tufts Poetry Awards activities, including but not limited to:
Assist with filing, mailing and shipping associated with the annual Kingsley and Kate Tufts Poetry Awards
Communicate clearly and appropriately with award winners, Tufts supporters and the literary public
Assist with Tufts events both on and off campus.
Provide direct support for the School of Arts & Humanities office
Assist with clerical needs, i.e. filing, greeting visitors, answering phones
Assist in communicating with facilities and creating room reservations
Support events by making coffee, preparing food platters, setting up tables and chairs and decorating
Assist in creation and distribution of event flyers and announcements
Work cooperatively as a member of the CGU School of Arts and Humanities staff team. Assist others as requested or assigned.
Accept other duties as assigned and approved by the Events Coordinator, Assistant Director, Director and/or Dean for School of Arts and Humanities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word for Windows, Excel, Outlook, and ability to learn additional programs, including basic flyer creation and/or web-page production.
Excellent oral and written communication and customer relations skills.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people, including faculty, staff, graduate students, potential donors, and Tufts Committee Members.
Excellent organizational skills in a multi-task environment.
Excellent record keeping skills.
Professional demeanor and dress, communication style, and outgoing, confident professional image.
Exercise judgment, tact, and discretion in the performance of a broad range of tasks.
Must be able to lift 20-25 lbs.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
EDUCATION: High School diploma plus two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: At least two years of related experience required. Excellent customer service experience required.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATES: Driver's license.
OTHER PREFERENCES: Experience in event support desired
UNIFORM REQUIREMENT: May wear CGU logo shirts for special events.

1. HOURS: Approximately 16-19 hours per week. Hours and days will vary due to scheduling of events on evenings or weekends and/or to meet the needs of the University, School, or department.
2. CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS: This is a part-time non-exempt, non-benefits eligible position.

5. OTHER:May be expected to do some lifting and extensive walking for events (e.g., set-up/break-down of events; tours). Some tasks may be performed off-campus (Tufts meetings and ceremony; university sponsored meetings).
