This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Wellness, Recreation, and Athletics and requires an understanding of and commitment to the values of The Evergreen State College and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). This position is responsible for building and sustaining a quality, competitive intercollegiate women’s volleyball program, which focuses on the development of student-athletes and supports the mission of the College. The incumbent plans and conducts all activities of the intercollegiate volleyball program, including recruiting, scheduling, fundraising, alumni relations, and student-athlete mentoring (academic, physical, emotional, and social components). The position contributes to the overall success of the Athletics Program and the larger division of Student Affairs through the support and development of student athletes.
This is a part-time .55 FTE (22 hours per week), overtime exempt position on the Olympia Campus of The Evergreen State College. This position is exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules and the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime requirements.

Essential Functions
Coach the intercollegiate team during the volleyball season, which begins in early August and runs through November.
Hire and oversee assistant coach staff to meet the needs of the volleyball team.
Plan and implement training and practices at the college’s recreational facilities during pre-season, the competitive season, and in the off-season.
Recruit prospective student-athletes on an ongoing, year-round basis; take an active part in determining prospective student-athletes eligibility according to Cascade Collegiate Conference and NAIA rules.
Ensure the safety of student-athletes while practicing and playing and in travel situations.
Schedule the intercollegiate volleyball competition season with the Assistant Director.
Schedule the court for practice and games before the season in coordination with others in the department; inform all departmental administrators and support personnel of changes in team schedules (especially the Certified Athletic Trainer), including contests, practices, and meetings that require classroom space.
Coordinate with Certified Athletic Trainer regarding pro-active training and reactive treatment.
Manage team budget, coordinate travel arrangements as needed for competitions, and track expenditures according to college and state policies.
Upload volleyball schedule to supervisor of officials in the online system.
Coordinate with Certified Athletic Trainer regarding proactive training and reactive treatment.
Carry out the position's duties within NAIA and Cascade Collegiate Conference rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Accompany and supervise team on all away trips. Maintain regular office hours during the off season, to be available to current and prospective athletes.
Encourage academic achievement, community service, good conduct, and sportsmanship on the part of each team member.
Develop and implement fundraising efforts in coordination with the Assistant Director and other staff.
Attend all relevant meetings of Cascade Collegiate Conference and department staff meetings.
Coordinate efforts to support the ongoing academic and future success of each student-athlete with academic and career advisors and faculty.
Work with the Sports Information Director to provide vital information on all team members and coaches, as well as in the production of all printed and online materials related to the volleyball program.
Work collaboratively within the department to coordinate and staff events that bring support to the College, such as Hall of Fame, booster club, and other community events; provide outreach and information dissemination as needed.
Assist the Recreation and Athletics department with revenue generation through the development and implementation of camps, clinics, and events.
