GCE Lab School prepares high school students for success as citizens in our interconnected and multicultural world. Our model integrates subjects into thematic courses that invite students to investigate real-world questions in a collaborative, project-based learning environment. Classroom learning is augmented by weekly Field Experiences that engage students in the relevance of their academics, get them outside the classroom and connect them with their community, and ignite their curiosity about potential career paths.
GCE has an immediate opening for a Science or Math instructor with understanding of astronomy, astrophysics, or cosmology to teach the final unit of an integrated math/science course for high school seniors. The course is called Frontiers. The final unit regards the frontier of outer space. The curriculum is already prepared, though the teacher may bring new ideas and perspectives. The instructor will guide students through inquiry-driven projects, provide instruction in relevant disciplines, introduce students to curricular partners, and encourage independent academic exploration. Classes are small (10 students in this case), instruction is personalized, the culture is encouraging, and Field Experiences are inspiring.
Classroom time is about 9 hours/week. The need is immediate. The school year concludes on June 14.
