Poly Prep seeks applicants for the part-time position of Upper School Drama Faculty for the fall semester of the 2023-2024 school year. We seek a talented and energetic individual with a professional theater background and expertise in the devising of new works who is committed to providing a joyful and equitable education for our students, and whose competence, integrity, and collegiality will enrich our first-rate Performing Arts Department as we move towards opening our new PolyArts Center. The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for engaging with students; strong communication and collaboration skills; and excellent organizational and time management skills. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Teaching:
Teach one class of Contemporary Theater with a focus on devising original performance materials and script analysis
Eagerness to work with students on an individual basis, as need be
Ability to keep accurate grades, effectively and supportively communicate with students and families, and provide written and oral feedback on student progress consistently throughout the school year
Accompany students on occasional curricular trips
Additional Responsibilities:
Direct and oversee the production of a Grade 11/12 Upper School play
Communicate with designers, families, faculty, and staff about all aspects of productions, including rehearsals and performances
Coordinate production-related administrative tasks including, but not limited to, creating performance programs, reserving space, and coordinating schedules
Demonstrate energetic commitment to professional development
Attend and contribute to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to departmental, committee, divisional and grade-level meetings
Attend community events throughout the school year
Salary Range: $18K

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:Bachelor’s degree in theatre performance, theatre education, or related disciplines
Experience: At least three years of teaching or commensurate experience
Specific Skills:Advanced theatre performance training and the ability to produce polished performances
Requirement: All employees must be fully vaccinated and show proof of their full COVID 19 vaccination
