Westover School is seeking an Athletic Trainer who possesses the certification, enthusiasm, and skills to support our athletic program. This is a part-time position with approximately 20 hours per week, but may be able to be combined with other opportunities within the Athletic Department and also in the dorms. The Head Athletic Trainer reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for the health and well-being of student-athletes through the care and prevention of athletic injuries. We seek a candidate with outstanding people skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize and complete work independently, while working closely as a team member in a school community. The Fall season is roughly 12 weeks (August 29 - November 18), the Winter season is roughly 12 weeks (November 27 - December 13; January 8 - March 8), and the Spring season is roughly 9 weeks (March 25 - May 25).
Salary:
$50 per hour; $33,000 for the 2023-24 school year.
Responsibilities include:
Provide preventative care to student-athletes and support coaches by caring for players’ sports-related injuries.
Administer primary clinical evaluations and subsequent treatment and rehabilitation programs.
Assess, treat, and manage concussions, including oversight of the return-to-play protocol and ImPACT testing.
Oversee and implement the Emergency Action Plan.
Maintain thorough and timely records of injuries and rehabilitation through our injury-tracking software.
Manage athletic training room equipment and supplies.
Maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming training room.
Work directly with coaches and parents to discuss an athlete’s injuries to ensure all parties are aligned on treatment, recovery, and return-to-play timelines.
Coordinate and/or instruct CPR, First Aid, and AED certification classes.
Other responsibilities as determined by the Director of Athletics.
Qualifications include:
CT Athletic Training certification.
Possess First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
Prior Athletic Training experience.
Sound judgment and professionalism.
Outstanding people skills.
Can prioritize and complete work independently.
Can collaborate and work closely with others as part of a team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Being positive, friendly, warm, and dedicated.
Passionate about working in an independent school setting.
Student-centered.
Passing Federal and State background checks.
Experience or certification in strength and conditioning or nutrition is a plus.
CT drivers license with an “A” endorsement is also a plus.
Certified Athletic Trainer with a Connecticut license are encouraged to apply.
