Founded in 1952, Norwood School is a coeducational, independent day school with approximately 450 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The School sits on 40 beautiful and expansive acres in Bethesda, Maryland, less than six miles from Washington, D.C. Norwood has an opening for an experienced part-time (20 hours/week) learning specialist beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year. The part-time learning specialist works with students and teachers in kindergarten through eighth grade. The learning specialist works closely and collaborates with the lower and middle school learning specialists to implement appropriate support and modifications for students. The part-time learning specialist may assist the lower and middle school learning specialist in providing support to teachers and families.

Applicants must have at least 3-5 years of experience working in a learning support role with elementary and middle school aged children. Strong applicants have demonstrated a commitment to working in a diverse, inclusive school setting with a child-centered pedagogy. Applicants should consider themselves adept at collaboration and being a team player. Additional qualifications include organization, excellent communication skills, flexibility, sense of humor, and a love for working with children and teens. 

Special education or related degree required; experience or training in reading support, language development, occupational therapy, etc. preferred.
