Essential Functions:
In conjunction with the head coach, provides instruction to athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
In conjunction with the head coach, provides instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence
In conjunction with the head coach, maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community
May be responsible to report game results to the athletic department immediately after contest is finished under the direction of the head coach.
In conjunction with the head coach, responsible for transporting via team van team players to/from contests
In conjunction with the head coach, supervises practices and games
Updates knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in general
In conjunction with the athletic department/head coach, issues/collects uniforms at the beginning and end of the season. Ensures that appropriate practice gear is worn during daily practices.
Updates the head coach/athletic director frequently during the season about any issues, concerns, or highlights
Qualifications:
A clear commitment to the mission of the school as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools and models professional behavior in it.
Proven ability to support in the organization and supervision of a sports program/team.
Good role model and demonstrated excellent ethics
Knowledge of the concepts, strategies, rules, and regulations of the sport
Demonstrated coaching and/or playing experience preferred
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills.
Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality. Must be able to be at practice/contests which may take place in mid-afternoon or evenings during the week as well as on Saturdays.
Current First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Ability to work in a high-energy environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
Must comply with all state vaccination requirements and show proof of vaccination including but not limited to COVID-19 or proof of eligibility for exemption.
Work in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds
