The Registered Nurse works as a key member of a multidisciplinary Radiation team and has the primary responsibility for and provides direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients undergoing radiation treatment. The RN serves as a key communication link between the patient, his/her family, and the care team. The RN is a continuous advocate for patients and their families, ensuring that clinical and business systems are customer service focused.
Job Requirements Knowledge of/Skill/Ability to: A thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures; knowledge and skills in techniques of good patient care whether medical or surgical, including multiple monitoring techniques. Demonstrates proficient computer skills. Must be flexible as needs arise and possess willingness to acquire new skills and adapt to a changing environment. Must possess assessment skills for all age groups. Must be familiar with chemotherapy “OCN” standards, practices, and recommendations. Must be able to read and write English, as well as speak and understand English. Must be able to operate office machines, as well as medical related equipment
License/Certification Current active and unencumbered Oregon RN license • Current Washington RN license • Current AHA BLS certification ONS Radiation Therapy Certificate Course must be obtained within 3 months of hire
Education and/or Experience Minimum Education: Graduate of accredited School of Nursing. Minimum Experience: A thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedure, and skills and techniques for adult care. Must possess assessment skills. Two years acute care or outpatient oncology experience preferred. Radiation oncology experience ideal. For RNs graduating within the last 12 months, or RNs that have not practiced in an acute care facility within the last 24 months and have not previously completed a residency program will be required to complete the CMH-provided program.
