The Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) has been the heart of the Indiana University Bloomington campus for more than 100 years. Every day thousands of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests enjoy the many amenities and opportunities the IMU has to offer.
The 189 room Biddle Hotel, located within the Indiana Memorial Union, is the largest hotel in Bloomington, Indiana. At the Biddle, guests enjoy upscale accommodations and first-rate amenities while only being steps away from some of Bloomington's best dining, shopping, arts and entertainment, and nightlife.
Job Summary
Cleans and stocks hotel rooms, corridors, storage, common areas, and other guest services areas.
Ensures hotel rooms are clean and ready for incoming guests based on established check-in time.
Supports the room attendants and ensures they have all supplies needed to clean and service the guestrooms.
Routinely delivers clean linen, glassware, and supplies to housekeepers and storage areas.
Collects dirty linen, glassware, and trash. Washes and prepares glasses and mugs.
Delivers express checkouts, newspapers, and other items requested by, or for, guests.
Assists with inventories and monitors supply levels to ensure that the proper level of material is in stock and available when needed.
Determines weekly and monthly supply allotments.
Completes storeroom requisition. Picks up, delivers, and stocks shelves with supplies.
Moves heavy furniture and extracts carpet and upholstery.
Performs light maintenance by replacing light bulbs, guest amenities, appliances, and supplies where needed.
Washes windows and has other general cleanliness duties as assigned.
Determines if rooms, hallways, and corridors are clean based on established departmental standards.
Prioritizes daily tasks based on time constraints of hotel volume and needs of the department.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
General knowledge at the high school level.
SKILLS
Required
Familiarity with Universal precautions, biohazard waste, MSDS Chemical Safety.
Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a wide variety of individuals.
Possesses strong organizational skills.
Working Conditions / Demands
Must be able to move items up to 50 pounds, remain in a stationary position for long periods of time and move about the work place. The person in this role must be able to ascend/descend a ladder. Equipment utilized includes vacuum, carpet extractor, strong cleaning chemicals, ladder, hand truck dolly, commercial dishwasher.
