Position title: Transplant Surgery Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $82,200-$235,400. Salary is negotiated annually. Position description

The Department of Surgery (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/surgery/Pages/default.aspx) and Division of Transplant Surgery (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/surgery/divisions/transplant/Pages/default.aspx) at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body.

The UC San Diego Health Transplant Program is searching for outstanding, highly motivated surgeons to join our successful and growing liver and kidney transplant team at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The program performs adult liver, adult kidney, living donor liver, living donor kidney, donor nephrectomy, deceased donor organ procurement and pediatric kidney and liver transplant transplantation.

We are seeking transplant surgeons with an interest in clinical excellence and are capable of making significant contributions to our educational and academic mission in research and education.

Candidates will be responsible for providing high quality training and teaching and will participate in the clinical care of patients and/or translational research.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (Required at Time of Application)

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent and be Board certified or eligible in General Surgery.

Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates must have completed an ASTS-accredited fellowship in abdominal transplantation and be Board eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Candidates must have the ability to independently perform deceased donor liver transplantation, kidney transplantation, minimally invasive donor nephrectomy and organ procurements.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with pediatric transplant experience and pancreas transplant experience are preferred.

Candidates with a strong background in clinical and/or translational research are also preferred.

Candidates with the ability to navigate the inherent multidisciplinary landscape in a collaborative team based approach are also preferred.
