The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital (BBCH) at Maine Medical Center is currently seeking a 0.5 FTE BC/BE Pediatric Hospital Medicine subspecialty physician to join their team of experienced providers. This part time position involves both inpatient pediatric and newborn care, academic teaching responsibilities, quality improvement, and other scholarly activity opportunities.
The BBCH is a 95-bed embedded pediatric hospital serving the tertiary care needs of Maine. Maine Medical Center has 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital. Services provided through The BBCH are comprehensive, including a PICU, NICU, intermediate care units for both newborn and pediatric care, a dedicated pediatric section in the ED, and a 35-bed inpatient unit. The BBCH is fully staffed with all major pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties, as well as child life, social work, teaching, and rehabilitation services.
Our subspecialty board-certified pediatric hospitalists manage hospitalized patients from birth through young adulthood (with a broad range of acute and chronic conditions and a mix of general and sub-specialty pediatric diagnoses), provide newborn care (~60% normal newborns, ~40% level 2 babies), perform consultations, and perform neonatal circumcision. We currently have a team of both full-time and part-time Pediatric Hospitalists. Members of the Pediatric Hospitalist team are integral teaching faculty in the Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Programs at Maine Medical Center. Academic appointment to Tufts University School of Medicine is required, and academic appointment to University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine is optional. The pediatric hospitalists participate in key hospital leadership roles and pursue quality improvement, education, and clinical research interests.
