Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Check-in and Customer Support Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service and guest experience for all visitors to the Mid-Ohio Market. The position will check in visitors to the produce market and participate in related programs and activities. The Check-in and Customer Support Specialist is expected to learn and follow all Mid-Ohio Market policies and procedures inclusive of Serv Safe food handling requirements and assist volunteers and customers with questions. This position will be responsible for greeting/checking in customers, performing clerical duties related to sign-in paperwork/ market messaging/tracking visits, developing signage for product limits, providing assistance with food ordering, and supporting market colleagues with student produce pick-ups.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Customer Support
Provides high quality customer service inclusive of welcoming and completing the check-in/registration process for all Market visitors. Assists visitors during their visit, inclusive of: helping them shop when needed, answering customer questions, and preparing student pick-up boxes. Resolves customer and operational problems in a timely fashion. Works with Market leadership to implement program improvements for visitors. Builds and fosters relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Interprets and responds to students and general public inquiries via phone, email and in person.
Clerical
Tracks all customer visits using a variety of systems. Develops & regularly updates product signage. Completes and maintains required documentation. Assists in organizing, preparing, and stocking product received. Collaborates with market colleagues to track inventory and assists in product ordering.
Community Engagement
Assists in conducting tours for volunteers and the general public. Participates in programs and events by representing the Market and College at events. Promotes awareness of services through marketing on campus platforms and social media. Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Other duties as required. *Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists volunteers as needed in repacking of products; assists in warehouse and office as needed; ensures work area is cleaned and sanitized in accordance with Serv Safe standards; attends meetings and trainings as required. Hours may include working outside of a normal work week schedule as well as weekend availability on an as needed basis.
High School Diploma or GED with three (3) years of experience working in a customer service or food/grocery industry.
*An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Knowledge of: food storage and Serv Safe standards; standard practices within area of specialization; communication and relationship-building strategies; customer service and public relations principles.
Skill in: verbal and written communication; maintaining good public relations and excellent customer service; application of job software programs; general typing and administrative work; operating general office equipment.

USUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

WORKING CONDITIONS
Food storage and grocery environment in addition to office environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to these environments. May work in refrigerated areas meaning exposure to temperatures as low as 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications: Must be comfortable with technology, position requires using PantryTrak to check in Market Customers, and other platforms to track student usage, volunteers and inventory.
