The National Child Research Center seeks a Systems/Network Administrator to work with the current systems/network administrator until her retirement then take over the position.
National Child Research Center (NCRC), is a co-ed independent preschool located in the historic district of Cleveland Park in Washington, DC. Founded in 1928, NCRC is the oldest continuously operating preschool in the District of Columbia, serving approximately 175 children aged 2 through 5. NCRC’s highly skilled faculty uses research-based best practices to lead children in a play-based, emergent curriculum, creating a uniquely enriching and nurturing environment for young children and their families. Responsibilities
The Systems/Network Administrator is a part-time position that provides technical support to the NCRC community including faculty, staff, and families. In addition, The Systems/Network Administrator configures, maintains, and supports the school-wide IT infrastructure and end-user software and hardware. A detailed description of the NCRC technology environment is attached. This position is part-time. The Systems/Network Administrator will report to the Assistant Head of School.
The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Respond promptly to support requests received via email, telephone, and in-person visits.
Configure, troubleshoot and repair all school software and hardware including MacBooks, PCs, Chromebooks, iPads, Android devices, and printers.
Administer NCRC’s Google Workspace for Education Basic environment.
Maintain and troubleshoot NCRC’s wired and wireless networks and related infrastructure.
Maintain an inventory of all computer hardware and software.
Manage, support, and train users in the use of a large variety of hardware and educational software applications.
Ensure the security and confidentiality of all data.
Perform basic Active Directory and Windows Server administration.
Create and maintain up-to-date documentation and training materials.
Coordinate and work with vendors to support hardware and software.

Qualifications - Required
Experience configuring and troubleshooting computer hardware and operating systems including MacOS, Windows, Chrome OS, and iOS.
Experience with Google Workspace for Education Basic administration and applications.
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking including switching, routing, DHCP, DNS, and 802.11 wireless networks.
Ability to manipulate databases and spreadsheets for information gathering and exports/imports.
Ability to learn new software applications quickly and to teach others how to use them.
Ability to create training and documentation materials.
Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and the ability to move among multiple tasks and projects with ease.
Ability to communicate in a friendly, professional, and timely manner with faculty, staff, and parents.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications - Preferred
Prior experience and/or exceptional ability in interacting with faculty and staff in an educational environment.
Knowledge of school administration systems including student information, enrollment management, and giving software.
Familiarity with software distribution and management platforms, Mosyle experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of PBX and VOIP telephone systems.
