FINANCIAL ASSISTANT 3, Morningside Academy for Design (MAD)/MITdesignX (part-time, 30 hrs/wk.), to provide diverse financial support for MAD (80%) and designX (20%). Will act as a senior-level financial support professional and resource for other assistants; provide complex financial support to MAD, its founding faculty director, and associate director for administration; and provide some financial support to designX. Responsibilities include approving purchases, reviewing expenditures/transactions, and processes financial transactions; creating database; maintaining statistical data; researching and gathering information for financial projects; assisting with developing guidelines/procedures/templates for financial review and reporting; handling salary distribution changes; processing student appointments; preparing financial/budget spreadsheets, documentation, and/or forms; reconciling accounting statements; reviewing, processing, and tracking payments; ensuring cost object expenses and revenues are accurate, timely, complete, and properly documented; preparing purchase orders and making purchases; paying invoices; reconciling procurement card charges; reviewing and approving travel expense reports; approving reimbursements; track spending; and performing other duties as requested.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; five years' accounting/finance experience; advanced-level knowledge of financial support standards/processes; flexibility; strong organizational skills; discretion, diplomacy, and good judgment; and attention to detail and accuracy. Must be able to deliver work according to operational targets and critical time demands in an environment with competing priorities; assess complex issues and interpret policies to determine the appropriate course of action; explain and clarify information related to established practices, policies, etc., and influence others to reach agreement; learn quickly and handle a wide variety of duties during MAD's start-up phase; and work effectively as part of a creative, diverse team.
