Position Summary:
The Writing Consultants (casual staff) of Wurzweiler School of Social Work (WSSW) are responsible for working with students on the writing process, brain storming, and organizing papers using APA style, and polishing/editing sentences. The Writing Consultants also assist with locating resources and developing writing skills for course assignments.
This is a part-time position, with a schedule of no more than 19 hours per week.
Position Responsibilities:
Work with students during any step of the writing process: invention, draft, revise, edit, publish
Work with WSSW students from MSW, PhD, and DSW programs
Work with students to ensure alignment with and adherence to the paper's prompt or assignment
Guide students through sentence-level grammatical revisions as well as larger, global revisions
Guide students through necessary citation methods
Maintain a familiarity with APA citation methods
Assist students in scheduling appointments as needed
Assist in training new consultants
Attend regular meetings and training sessions as scheduled
Participate in WSSW meetings, and or events, when necessary
Experience & Educational Background:
Master's degree, PhD degree preferred
Skills & Competencies:
A working knowledge of the writing process
Familiarity in locating and documenting reliable and credible sources
Possession of excellent writing, listening, and speaking skills
Salary Range:
$40 - $43 per hour
