Job Title: Assistant Coordinator (Community) , PreCollege Art and Design Residency Program

General purpose:MICAâs summer PreCollege Art and Design Residency Program is a 2- 4 week intensive college-level experience designed to help participants make the leap from thinking like a high school art student to thinking like an artist making art that reflects a new level of skill and personal vision, communicating ideas about art in daily critiques, and building a professional portfolio of work. PreCollege is designed for rising juniors and seniors. In conjunction with MICAâs Mission and Vision, our program provides a welcoming environment for all students through an inclusive community that values students of all races and ethnicities, sexual orientations and expressions, creative abilities, religious faiths, political affiliations, and socio-economic backgrounds. The Community Coordinator oversees all residential and community components of the program and is expected to be on call for the duration of the program:Â
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Â
This position reports to the Pre-College Program Manager and the Director of Youth Programs in Open Studies. The Assistant Coordinator (Community) coordinates and manages residential and community aspects of the Pre-College Art and Design Residency Program, and is considered Professional Staff (Pro-Staff). When the program is held on campus, The Assistant Coordinator (Community) is expected to live in residency on campus beginning two weeks before students arrive and throughout the duration of the program and will be provided with a meal plan. The Coordinator is expected to be on call throughout the duration of the program.Â
âAssist with the successful implementation of the PreCollege program in collaboration with the other Pro Staff (PC Program Manager, Academic Coordinator, Online Coordinator if needed). The variety of tasks associated with this position involve administrative, clerical, physical, organizational and leadership skills
âAssign rooms/roommates prior to program start date, manage all scheduling, activities and staffing for move-in and move-out days in collaboration with the PreCollege Program Manager and the office of Open Studies
âTrain and supervise Undergraduate Community Assistants for duties related to living in residence, supporting student needs, safety, community and health
âWork with the Office of Open Studies, the Pro Staff, and CAâs to ensure the programmatic integrity and a safe and positive residential experience for PreCollege participants
âManage, train and supervise the Community Assistants
âServe as liaison between MICA Facilities Management and PreCollege regarding necessary repairs/work orders for housing accommodations
âCollaborate with other Pro Staff to schedule community assistant shifts, duties and responsibilities
Answer questions and manage/resolve issues related to facilities and staffing for the residential aspect of the program
âWork with the Community Assistants to develop social and artistic programming for students during the evenings and weekend hours
âAttend/Schedule/Lead meetings, training and events as appropriate
âPlan and implement guest speaker series and collaborate with Pro Staff to develop additional programming as needed
âModel and enforce PreCollege program policies, rules, and regulations and act as an ambassador for the program
âDevelop, maintain and model healthy interpersonal relationships with all staff, faculty and students
âMaintain an open line of communication and support for students and their families
âProvides supports, interventions, and referrals when appropriate for individual student needs
âPerform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:Â
Bachelorâs degree; preferably in Fine Arts, Art History, Art Education, or Arts AdministrationÂ
Experience managing college-level staff
High school or college teaching experience preferredÂ
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency
 Familiarity with campus resourcesÂ
 Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
Compensation:Â
Salary is commensurate with experience and college policy
