Description The School of Communication seeks to establish a pool of qualified applicants for future, part-time lecturer appointments. Part-time lecturers teach one to five courses at the undergraduate level, through different modalities, including face-to-face and online.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct all class sessions according to schedule.
Provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to adequately cover all Student Learning Objectives for the specific course(s) taught.
Use teaching methods that emphasize application, cooperation and collaboration, and engage students actively in their studies while encouraging them to become independent learners with higher-order thinking skills.
Organize and explain content using methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experience.
Assign and provide timely feedback for in- and out-of-class work, monitor students' progress and maintain accurate record of students' performance.
Perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment according to college requirements.
Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy.
Ensure timely submission of all reports to appropriate office(s).
Other duties as assigned.
Part-time lecturer positions are temporary appointments, assigned per semester and on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications Minimal Qualifications
Masters degree in communication with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
An earned doctorate in communication or closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours.
Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level.
Previous teaching experience in an online environment.
Prior relevant experience as a communication professional.
