Cape Cod Academy seeks a part-time Latin teacher to plan, oversee, guide, instruct, evaluate and monitor two students engaged in an independent study.  One student (senior) is in Latin V while the second student (junior) is in Latin II.  This is a remote position and requires the candidate to be available for some portions of the eastern standard time school day.

Responsibilities

• Develops the written independent study plan with the student
• Supervises and approves coursework
• Designs all lesson plans and assignments
• Maintains records of student assignments showing the date the assignment is given and the date the assignment is due
• Provides direct instruction and counsel as necessary for individual student success
• Regularly meets with students to discuss progress
• Judges the time value of assigned work or work products completed and submitted by students
• Assesses student work and determine and assign grades or other approved measures of achievement, including administration and
  grading of common course benchmarks and semester final exams
• Selects and saves representative samples of the students’ completed and evaluated assignments for each subject, signed or initialed
  and dated in accordance required audit records and provide these to the supervisor
• Maintains a daily or hourly attendance register including class attendance and work completion records
• Maintains any other required records and files on a current basis
• Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and revises individual instructional plans as appropriate
• Utilizes appropriate materials to meet students’ identified needs
• Adapts teaching methods based on students’ identified needs and sound principles of learning
• Implements a program that provides continuity and consistency for students
• Utilizes strategies to promote in students a positive self-concept, self-awareness, self-discipline, responsibility and respect for others
• Establishes and maintains standards and procedures which promote an effective and positive learning environment
• Maintains a proactive and positive relationship with students, staff, parents and community members
• Participates in supervision with the Director of the Upper School
• Performs other related duties as assigned 

Master's degree preferred
1-5 years teaching Latin at the high school or college level
Ability to effectively connect with students via Zoom or Google Meet
