Must have a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Massachusetts.
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
Minimum of 2 years in community/school health or related experience.
Must have CPR/AED certification.
Bancroft School of Worcester seeks a registered nurse who can supplement nursing coverage of the Health Center on an as needed basis (otherwise referred to as per diem) as determined by the Director of Health Services. The per diem school nurse will provide health care through assessment, intervention and follow-up for students, faculty and staff within the school setting.
Responsibilities of the Per Diem Nurse Include:
Maintain a seamless transition of care with accurate documentation of individual student, faculty or staff visits to the Health Center and communicate well with the Health Center team.
Triage’ acute and chronic conditions and provide nursing care and treatment based on findings. If student condition indicates further assessment the school nurse will notify parents/guardians.
Provide medically prescribed interventions (treatments, medications, etc.) per standing orders or orders received by a prescribing practitioner.
Work as a team member with the Health Center nurses along with faculty, staff and community practitioners to promote a safe and healthy school environment.
Continue to act as an advocate for students’ needs and serve as a liaison between parents/guardians and faculty members while maintaining student confidentiality.
Identify students who exhibit special health or emotional needs and provide emotional support, health education, and referral for crisis intervention as necessary.
Perform daily office tasks dependent upon hours of coverage.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Health Services during coverage of the Health Center.
