Position Summary

The Division of Infectious Diseases clinical research unit is seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to support the research activities related to COVID-19 testing, treatment and prevention, HIV prevention and treatment and other emerging infections or infections of public health importance such as Human Monkeypox Virus.

The individual will have the opportunity to work closely with investigators and clinicians from the Division of Infectious Disease and assist with literature reviews, support data quality and assessment of ongoing studies, and perform data management including linking study data from different sources electronic medical record (EMR) systems, Qualtrics and REDCap.

The individual will work under the general supervision of the principal investigator and project director. Assignments are routine, but may include duties of a more complicated nature. This position relies on grant funding.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform systematic literature reviews
• Learn study management, assist with recruitment and screening procedures, and educate participant about study protocols.
• Administer questionnaires and collect data in accordance with study protocols.
• Conduct the informed consent procedures and obtain a signed informed consent prior to initiating study related procedures.
• Collect, transport and store study samples in accordance with study protocols.
• Assist with analysis, interpretation, and presentation of collected data.
• Prepare power point slides and other methods of data visualization.
• Assist in the development of academic and research presentations.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of related experience in statistics, epidemiology, health behavior, or related field
• Strong decision-making skills and independent problem solving
• Orientation to detail
• Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality
• Ability to interact with patients and staff at all levels
• Computer skills and strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of HIV/ AIDS and sexually transmitted infections
• Experience with ethical conduct of human subjects research
• Experience collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
• Experience using online data collection tools (REDCap)
• Knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint, REDCap, statistical software, and/or R
• Spanish language skills
