Chatham Hall is excited to begin a search for Head Track & Field Coach to begin Spring 2023. Chatham Hall—a girls’ grades 9-12 boarding and day school in southern Virginia—has been a leader in educating girls and preparing them for college since 1894. The successful candidate is one who loves facilitating learning and who is invigorated by time spent with young people. Proven experience as a coach is strongly preferred.
Chatham Hall is in a very exciting position of carrying out the final pieces of its most recent strategic plan. At the core of that plan is the health and wellness initiative which strives to create balance in the lives of both students and adults. Aspects of "Living Well at Chatham Hall" include:
Moving away from AP classes in favor of our own advanced classes
Implementing a January Term beginning in the next school year
Creating a new daily schedule that should allow students and teachers time to take the deep dives as well as time for reflection to process learning
Organizes and oversees specific program levels or areas of responsibility
Communicates with the head coach and director of athletics to secure facilities to ensure a safe practice/competition environment for students
Supports the philosophy, programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals and proper conditioning communicated by the head coach
Communicates and plans with the head coach practice sessions and competition strategies which ensure the health and physical well-being of the student-athlete
Attends all student-athlete practices, matches, and monitors proper supervision at all practices matches and on school provided transportation
Communicates with a diverse group of students and parents
Provides a fun and creative environment
Other duties as assigned by the head coach and/or director of athletics
Part-time stipend; meals are provided.

Prior coaching and or teaching experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
