About the Opportunity:
Brown University is undergoing a tremendous growth in the arts, with newly appointed leadership for the Brown Arts Institute, and the state of the art, one of a kind Lindemann Performing Arts Center scheduled to open in Fall 2023. Brown seeks to fulfill its ambitious vision for the arts as an integral presence throughout a liberal arts education. We believe the arts are fundamental to critical inquiry into the most important questions facing humanity around the world, and we support artists operating at the highest levels of their craft to inform, and be informed by, scholars in disciplines across the sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
We seek to hire a Producing Assistantwho works closely with the Producing Director of the Brown Arts Institute (BAI) to development and advance programs of the Brown Arts Institute, including commissioned, co-commissioned, and presented work, as well as student and faculty generated programs and events presented in the Granoff Center for the Creative Arts or Lindemann Performing Arts Center.
Education and Experience:Â
Required: Â BA or BFA
1-3 years in arts administration, artistic production, project management or related experience
Experience working with artists/arts management companies
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask
Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment
The Producing Assistant is a part-time, on-call position (< half-time) whose schedule is dependent on the BAIâ™s production calendar. Â Some weeks, there may be limited producing needs; during others, there may be 40 hours of work. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of the Brown Arts Institute, the Producing Assistant must be versed in a wide variety of artistic presentation.Â Evening and weekend work should be expected.
