At the direction of the Director of Field Experience & Student Teaching, this position oversees field experience placements and assists with assessment. This position also manages correspondence with school districts, school personnel and students regarding the placements. This 3/4 time, .833 FTE, contracted position works during the academic school year with summers off.
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Oversee the field experience placement work for placements at the pre-methods level as directed by the Director FE&ST by conducting pre-registration interviews, hosting orientation sessions, conducting initial meetings/emails with cooperating teachers, preparing student assignments, facilitating midpoint and end point reflections, facilitating placement evaluations, conducting exit interviews, and collecting student reflection logs. This includes but is not limited to placements for the following courses in the teacher education programs:

Oversee the field experience placement work for placements at the methods and student teaching level for the Early Childhood Education program as directed by the Director FE&ST. This includes but is not limited to placements for the following courses in the teacher education programs:
ECE3306L Infant Toddler Methods Lab
ECE4316L Preprimary Methods Lab
SPD4415L Special Education Field Experience
EDU4976 Student Teaching in Early Childhood Education: Preprimary
EDU4976E Student Teaching in Early Childhood Education: Preprimary Endorsement
Manage correspondence with school districts, school personnel and students regarding the placements defined above under the direction of the Director FE&ST. This includes oversight of all requests and letters of confirmation related to early childhood methods placements and education core and special education placements at the pre-methods level and required background checks.
Assist the Director FE&ST with the assessment of field experiences.
Assist the Director FE&ST with updating materials related to field experiences.
Conduct regular site visits with district placement coordinators.

Secondary job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Serve on the Admission and Retention Committee, as needed.
Represent the School of Education at campus visit days/events in partnership with the UNW Admissions Department.
Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Director of FE&ST.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
A minimum of three years of teaching in the PK-12 schools required
Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work well with faculty (recruiting and mobilizing)
Ability to interact with a variety of individuals, personalities, and departments in a professional and effective manner
Basic computer proficiency with ability to type 40 wpm and to efficiently and accurately use the computer to carry out job responsibilities
Strong organizational and problem solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidential information
Ability to secure and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and automobile
Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
