The Ensemble Operations Assistant supports the daily operations of Juilliard’s two orchestral studios, as well as production duties related to Juilliard’s orchestral and contemporary music ensembles. This is a 20 hour/week and 42 week/year position.
Orchestral Studio Management and Ensemble Production
Reporting to the Ensemble Operations Manager, oversee ensemble events, including venue preparation, setup, and stage changes in orchestral studios at Juilliard and performance venues as assigned
Assist in coordinating all production details with students, conductors, ensemble managers, orchestra library, recording, concert office, venue staff, and others
Assist with department-wide scheduling, ensuring accuracy across multiple platforms (i.e., ArtsVision, ASIMUT, etc.)
Coordinate piano tunings for events in rehearsal studios and performance venues
Process orchestral studio reservation inquiries from students
Conduct regular walkthroughs of the orchestral studios and handle light maintenance needs or report to Facilities as needed
Other duties as assigned by Ensemble Operations Manager or Senior Director of Performance Operations and External Venue Relations
Instrument and Equipment Management
Responsible for making sure equipment is properly stored
Assist with student check out and return of wind and brass instruments
Assist with maintenance of the wind and brass instrument collections
Assist with scheduling, setup, and maintenance of electronic equipment and keyboard instruments
Assist with managing large instrument lockers
Assist in the scheduling and oversight of work-study operations crew
Assist with monitoring rehearsals (attendance, start/stop times, post-rehearsal reports), as needed
Ensemble Management Experience (preferably in Operations)
Background in music performance, performing arts education, or artistic administration
