We are excited to announce that Northwestern Department of Athletics and Recreation is accepting qualified candidates for the Big Ten Diversity Postgraduate Internship position for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Reporting to the Senior Associate AD, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, this position will interact with various units in the department of athletics and recreation supporting overall department justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) efforts. Additional responsibilities will include providing direct student-athlete development support for the Engage Program and Engage Affinity Spaces. Further opportunities to interact with campus and community constituents as well as support other student-athlete development efforts is expected. As a year-end project, the intern would be asked to present on a topic that will continue our efforts to create a diverse and inclusive community that fosters belonging and celebrates authenticity.
Essential duties:
Report directly to the Senior Associate AD, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer
Support the Department Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, including contributing to special projects
Assist with the creation and implementation of Engage and Engage Affinity Space Programming
Collaborate with student development colleagues to assist with the development and implementation of programing efforts
Assist with communications responsibilities, including the development of graphics, video, and social media content
Assist with the creation, implementation, and tracking of staff, coach, and student-athlete education and dialogue spaces
Foster relationship with campus and community partners to implement and support diversity and inclusion programming

Able and willing to work evenings and weekend events
