TAMUC Graduate Scholar Program (GSP) will develop student’s professionalism by providing work experience, leadership skills, and network with industry partners. The goal of this program is to give students working in college athletics a competitive edge securing employment after graduation. Students can achieve further distinction with an “Excellence Award” at the end of the year. This program provides students an interactive, professional learning experience that opens the doors to local and regional employers.
*Full tuition and fees paid along with stipend*
Academics GA:
Provide inclusive academic support to student-athletes of assigned teams through individualized academic plans that may include tutoring, mentoring, study hall, and instruction on study skills and time management.
Assist in generating weekly grade reports for assigned teams
Attend beginning of semester meetings and participate in coaches’ meetings for assigned teams
Contribute to leadership and development programs such as community engagement opportunities and/or event planning, and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Assist in day-to-day operations of the Thrower Center
Perform other duties as assigned.
Compliance GA:
Assist the Associate Director for Compliance and Compliance Coordinator in monitoring the activities of coaches and student-athletes, including, but not limited to:
Assisting in NCAA Bylaw 16 rules regarding Awards limits and Complimentary Admissions;
Assisting in NCAA Bylaw 17 rules with practice schedules and logs;
Assisting in NCAA Bylaw 13 rules with recruiting logs; AND
And any other duties as needed.
To be eligible for the Graduate Scholar Program a student must have full or conditional admission into the Health and Human Performance (HHP) master’s/specialist degree program. Students cannot have provisional admission or be a non-degree student. If a doctoral student, you must have full admission into a doctoral program; you cannot be a non-degree student. You also:
Must be in good standing with the Graduate School
Possess an overall graduate GPA of at least a 3.00 for courses completed
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for fall and spring terms
Enrolled in at least one internship course each semester including summer. Each course may count towards your degree as an elective (ie. HHPK 537)
