This position will be a Track and Field assistant coach for the jumps including Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, and Pole Vault. This position will assist the Head Coach in the organization, administration and promotion of all aspects of the Concordia University's Irvine Track and Field program. Coaching includes assisting the Head Coach in instruction of all events listed above and any other event areas designated by the Head Coach; program management for the specific area assigned and preparation of recommendations to the Head Coach. This position adheres to the policies set forth by Head Coach and Athletic Director, as well as Concordia University Irvine, the PacWest Conference and NCAA.
Provides consultation and expert advice to Head Coach in the jumps
Prepares, plans, conducts, and evaluates practice sessions, as directed by Head Coach and with assistance from the other assistant coaches in the jumps area.
Teaches individuals and groups of student-athletes specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off-season.
Teaches sport/event specific techniques as directed.
This position is available to coaches and student-athletes before, during and after practices and events.
Will be on time and attend all practices/meets unless previous arrangements have been made with Head Coach (Head Coach Discretion)
Failure to do so will result in disciplinary actions.
You will actively recruit all jumpers.
Attends off-campus events for the purpose of evaluation and contact.
Coordinates mailing recruitment materials of your prospective student-athletes; maintains computerized "master" recruit list in ARMS recruiting system.
Follow all NCAA and Concordia University Irvine's recruiting policies.
Makes contact with all prospective student-athletes in coordination with the NCAA Rules.
Makes phone contact with your prospective student-athletes in coordination with the recruiting coordinator and NCAA Rules.
Will be NCAA certified to recruit off Campus.
Follows CUI procedures in handling any monies that flow through the athletic program.
Will enter all recruiting cards into ARMS and report to their specific event coaches.
Plans long and short term team objectives under the leadership of the Head Coach.
Coordinates recruiting efforts with the Office of Admissions, Academic Services, Compliance and others within your PSAs under the supervision of the program's recruiting coordinator.
Will be responsible for leading and ensuring pick up of all equipment from track and field tunnel on meet day.
Administers day to day operations as directed by the Head Coach.
Will oversee study hall 1-2x per week.
Will keep a positive attitude and use positive words when around all student-athletes and while on campus.
Will keep all jumps equipment organized in the track and field shed on a daily basis.
Office hours will be compromised of study hall, recruiting, visits with PSA's, and one-on- one's with current student-athletes. Recruiting and Study Hall will be scheduled with the head coach. All others will be on a case by case basis.
Will have one night per week, two hours, for recruit calls made in the office, and one night per week, two hours, for study hall (could be two depending on the week)
