Hannah Senesh Community Day School, a progressive, independent K-8 Jewish day school in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, is hiring a part-time middle school physical education teacher. This is a two-day/week position (Monday and Thursday).
The physical education teacher will plan and conduct classes that include movement exploration, wellness and physical health, cardiovascular training, good sportsmanship and cooperative games. Candidates should have experience working with students in mixed-gendered settings with a variety of skill-levels and interests, be practiced in differentiated instruction, and skilled at helping students strive to meet their individual goals.

Responsibilities Include:
Plan and implement twice weekly phys ed classes for students in 5th and 6th grade (12-15 students per class)
Plan and implement 7th and 8th grade physical education electives
Coach one team or teach one after-school class
Communicate with colleagues and parents, as needed
Other duties, as assigned, including lunch/recess supervision
Qualifications:
Physical education degree and/or 3+ years middle school physical education teaching experience
Genuine passion for the education of young people through sports, fitness, and wellness
A dedication to fostering students’ social and emotional well-being
Demonstrated ability to develop students’ strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination across all activities and sports and different abilities and skill levels
Ability to utilize research-based strategies for classroom management, lesson planning, instructional delivery
Significant training and a strong interest in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work
A sense of humor, strong communication skills, and a collegial and collaborative approach to teaching
