Position description
The Viterbi FamilyDepartment of Ophthalmology (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/ophthalmology/pages/default.aspx) at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Department, Shiley Eye Institute, and UCSD Vision Research are expanding. The Department is recruiting clinician scientist(s) in Neuro Ophthalmology.
Candidates will provide clinical care, research and teaching for conditions in the areas of: Double Vision; Eyelid abnormalities; Microvascular cranial nerve palsy; Myasthenia gravis; Optic nerve disorders; Psuedotumor cerebri; Strabismus; and Thyroid eye disease.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate of Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD in health related fields or equivalent. Candidates with an MD must be board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology and have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates must have the experience in treatment of vision problems that relate to nervous system; including vision problems due to brain injuries or diseases, trauma, stroke, or infection.
Preferred qualifications
Candidates with outstanding productivity in research and clinical care are preferred.
