The Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) has been the heart of the Indiana University Bloomington campus for more than 100 years. Every day thousands of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests enjoy the many amenities and opportunities the IMU has to offer.
The Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) Building Manager Team is composed of 7-10 Building Managers (ABM), two Night Security Managers and the Building Manager who supervises this staff. The Building Manager team is responsible for serving as the administrative face of the IMU during night and weekend hours.
Job Summary
This is a student driven position designed for undergraduate student development, focusing on leadership and integrity. Assistant Building Managers (ABM) help to facilitate communication between various departments within the IMU to assure efficient and effective operations.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Completes a report log detailing duties performed during your shift including routine procedures, unusual events, accidents, thefts, damages, illnesses, complaints, compliments, or any other information or issues that need to be called to the attention of IMU staff members.
Serves a security and safety role in the building, assuring that facility spaces are secured, addressing policy violations, responding to emergencies, and routinely moving about the building to provide a presence in the building.
Trained in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Biohazards to appropriately handle any emergency which may arise. Additional training is provided as compliance to ensure proper reporting procedures are followed.
Considered level 2 essential personnel in inclement weather situations.

EDUCATION
Required
Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
SKILLS
Required
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work with a wide range of diverse individuals.
Ability to work independently and to problem solve.
Ability to use a computer to complete daily report logs and monitor security cameras.
Customer service orientation and the ability to address any customer complaints or concerns in collaboration with fellow staff members.
Responsible, dedicated, and self-motivated with a positive, friendly attitude due to the relational nature of this position.
Working Conditions / Demands
The person in this position must be able to move efficiently through the building and to communicate with colleagues and guests, and occasionally move up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to work night, weekend, and holiday hours. Must be able to work throughout the summer term.
