Lycoming College is seeking applications for a Part-time Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. This position is allotted for 725 hours annually and is responsible for assisting the Head Men’s Basketball Coach in all aspects of Lycoming College’s NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Program.
Duties and responsibilities of the position consist of:
Organizing and conducting practices, conditioning programs, and competitive events. Instructing student-athletes with sound principles and expert skills related to basketball, preparing individual athletes and team for games, setting season goals and motivating students using techniques that meet the needs of the students and that are consistent with the Lycoming College athletic program philosophy. Participating in fundraising through the Warrior Club program and fundraising accounts. Know and abide by NCAA Division III regulations and Middle Atlantic States Athletic Conference rules. Successfully complete the annual NCAA “open book” rules test. Complying with the policies and procedures outlined in the Lycoming College Athletic Training handbook. Cooperate with athletic trainers to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services. Collaborate with the Director of Athletic Communications to promote the men’s basketball program. Assist Head Coach in creating social media presence for recruiting and alumni purposes. Respond to media requests via the Office of Athletic Communications in a manner that promotes professionalism and the mission of Lycoming College. Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification. Attend departmental meetings, communicate regularly with the Head Coach and contribute positively to the betterment of the total athletics program. In compliance with NCAA Division III rules and regulations for men’s basketball, recruit student-athletes who meet the College’s admission requirements, who possess the potential to contribute to your team, and who will add positively to the student body. Represent the College at admission open houses and other events that involve prospective students. Monitor the academic success of student-athletes and collaborate with faculty, the Assistant Dean for Freshmen and other key personnel to promote academic success. Support the academic development of your student-athletes through graduation.

Requirements and Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree and collegiate playing and/or coaching experience. Cultural competence and effective communication skills. Successful candidate will be self-motivated and possess the ability to recruit, teach and coach highly talented student-athletes who can succeed in a challenging academic environment. Experience with using video breakdown, analysis, and analytics to improve team performance.
