The part-time Middle and Upper School Music Teacher is a professional, energetic, innovative and generous musician with teaching experience at the middle and upper school levels (grades 6-12). This part-time position will teach sections of Middle School Guitar, Middle School Pop Ensemble and Upper School Jazz/Rock Ensemble class that includes a mixed range of abilities, beginners to advanced. The Music Teacher also coordinates and instructs the classes during end of semester performances.
Upper School - 4 hours weekly between 8:00 AM and 9:45 AM, Monday thru Friday
Middle School - 8 hours weekly between 1:45 PM and 3:15 PM, Monday thru Friday
Semester Evening or Weekend Performances
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for course curriculum
Lead class in end of semester performances/productions
Have a commitment to assisting in the assessment, growth and success of the Music program.
Work cooperatively with the department, faculty and staff throughout the school in striving for educational excellence.
General involvement as a faculty member and in assessment of student learning.
Support and continuous quality improvement through participation.
Maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect, which encourages students to risk asking questions, expressing their opinions, and making mistakes necessary to the learning process.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
Participate in department, school, and parent meetings
Some lifting and moving of musical instruments and equipment
Other duties as assigned
BFA, BSM or BA Degree required
Professional instrumental performance experience, multi-instrumentalist is a plus
Strong sight-reading skills and the ability to improvise in a variety of styles is desired
2 years prior Middle School teaching experience
2 years prior High School teaching experience
Dynamic personality and enthusiasm for teaching
